AYLUS Dix Hill Branch Volunteers at Long Island Chinese School

On Sunday, March 29, the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at the Long Island Chinese School as teaching aides. Volunteers signed in at the front table, after which they then went to their assigned rooms to help the teachers with a variety of tasks such as grading homework and handing out tests. With volunteers helping, teachers had less distractions that could take away time while also getting more to teach without the need to grade homework and more. Afterwards, volunteers also helped in the intermediate level elective chess class, where the volunteers kept the students focused on the lesson before they started their tournament games. Volunteers set up the chess boards for the students’ tournament games, then watched over the games to confirm that pieces were set up properly and no illegal moves were made.

Because of the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers, students and teachers at the Long Island Chinese School had a more productive and enjoyable experience.
