Reported by Eric Huang, Hometown Sammamish Youth Action Program – Habitat Restoration Project
On March 22, 2026, members of the AYLUS Lake Washington Branch partnered with the City of Sammamish to support a special restoration project as part of the Evan’s Creek Preserve Expansion Project. Our volunteers helped prepare a section of trail scheduled for decommissioning by stabilizing steep areas and planting vegetation to discourage the use of unsafe social trails created by off‑trail foot traffic.
During the three‑hour event, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, members carried soil, removed invasive species, planted native vegetation in designated restoration zones, and assisted with cleaning tools and equipment. Through hands‑on work and collaboration with community members, volunteers strengthened their connection to the environment while gaining valuable practical skills.
Volunteer Hours (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM):
- Eric Huang : 3hrs
- Elissa Song: 3hrs
- Kevin Chen: 3hrs
Location: Summer Ridge, Sammamish, WA
