On Tuesday, August 5th, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered at Nosh Delivers!, a food pantry dedicated to providing food to those in need.
We started by opening the bags used to package their weekly deliveries of groceries to families. This made it easier for us to eventually pack around 200 bags with groceries such as apples and carrots. Afterwards, we spread out and did multiple smaller tasks, such as restocking the shelves, taking out the garbage, helping bring boxes of food into the pantry, breaking down the boxes, and assisting customers with their shopping experience. We also decorated and packed NOSH bags that had lunch for kids, and successfully made over 50 bags, each with a unique design and snack inside. To conclude our visit, we helped sweep and mop the floors, clean the tables, and throw out any leftover or rotten food.
