On May 3rd, 2025, AYLUS Lake Washington Branch members Eric Huang, Kevin Chen, Haneesh Yalamanchili, Jiayi Zhu, and Jerry Yang volunteered at the Evans Creek Preserve Restoration Event in Sammamish. During the three hour-long event, our members worked hard to move mulch, lay topsoil, and clean tools. Our members collectively covered multiple cardboard sheets with 8 inches of mulch, and moved a large portion of the mulch pile.

As our members attended this event, we encountered other people from our community, strengthening our connection with others. We utilized our skills to both collaborate with others to maximize efficiency along with to perform exerting tasks, even when it began pouring rain. The event served as a great opportunity for enrichment and learning about our community.

Our branch members volunteered from 11:00am to 2:00pm, contributing a total of 15 volunteer hours:

Eric Huang: 3 hrs
Kevin Chen: 3 hrs
Haneesh Yalamanchili: 3 hrs
Jiayi(Joey) Zhu: 3 hrs
Jerry Yang: 3 hrs

Location: Evans Creek Preserve, Sammamish, WA
