On February 1, 2025, members of the AYLUS Memorial Branch volunteered at the Houston Chinese Community Center (9800 Town Park Dr, Houston, TX 77036) for the annual Lunar New Year festival. During the festival, members helped set up tents, control traffic, and run the tents for vendors. The main tent that the members operated was the wish tree tent. At this tent, festival attendees would write a wish, put the wish in an envelope, hang the envelope on the wish tree, then take another envelope in return, essentially exchanging their wish for another. By dedicating their time to this city-wide tradition, the members were able to ensure that this festival ran smoothly and efficiently from start to finish.
