Murrieta AYLUS Lends a hand to Murrieta Field of Honor Event ( 4th) (11/17/2024)

Reported by Hsin Chen(Julie) Lu :

On Sunday, November 17th, 2024, the Murrieta AYLUS branch helped at the Field of Honor Event. This year, they were assigned to help clean up and take down the flags. The members got there early and got to work. Everyone paired up with one another when taking down the flag to make sure they were properly rolled up without touching the ground in the process. The supervisors divided the volunteers into groups and directed each group to work on certain sections of the field. After the members were finished rolling up 2-3 sections of the field, they helped carry the metal rods that were pulled out of the ground to the back to be placed in boxes. After this, some members took a quick water break before getting back to work, rolling the flags, taking them to the back, and collecting the rods. While they were working, a member of the city rotary stopped them and asked to take pictures. The advisor shared what our branch has accomplished in the past 3 years and the rotary member gave her contact information to discuss any future opportunities. When all the flags had been put away, many of the volunteers had left already. The members stayed behind to help pick up any missed rods and afterward walked around the field collecting trash.
