AYLUS Morrisville Branch Sorts and Packs Books for the African Library Project to Uganda on September 15th 2024

African Library Project (ALP) is an international network of partners, volunteers, and community supporters, book drives are transformed into sustainable libraries. Volunteers in North America organize book drives by rallying their communities to collect gently used children’s books and raise funds for shipping. AYLUS Morrisville Branch launched our first African Library Project (ALP) this summer. Our enthusiastic volunteers organized book drives to collect books. We hope these books will help underserved schools and communities in need of books.

On September 15, our branch members sorted and packed 18 boxes of 1060 books. These books will be shipped out to Uganda soon. The name of our donated library is HAI-TEC Empowerment Initiative and Library. It will serve Nansana, Nabweru, Busukuma & Gombe, 29 wards and 130 villages in Uganda. We hope to continue to contribute to the African Library Project.
