On August 10th, the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at Planting Field State Park to help remove invasive weeds. As a continuation of last week’s work, volunteers already knew what to do. The invasive species were stifling the growth of existing plants already there, and removing them made space for the plants to thrive and for new plants to grow there. Volunteers used various tools such as clippers and rakes to effectively remove the weeds, as well as using their hands to pull them out. Volunteers worked from 9:30 to 12:00 to help get rid of the unnecessary plants scattered around.
Volunteers: Bryan Fan (3 hrs), Simon Kong (2.5 hrs), Sunya Kong (2.5 hrs), and Jonathan Fan (2.5 hrs).
