Murrieta AYLUS Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley #25– ABWK Senior Home Painting Projects (8/10/2024)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On August 10, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped with the A Brush with Kindness Project.
After arriving at the work site, the volunteers began with taping off the home. They taped around the perimeter and around the doorbells and vents that should be avoided, and also laid and taped down brown paper. After a safety meeting and a demonstration, the volunteers worked on one side of the home, getting on ladders to reach the roof. After finishing along the side, they took a bathroom break, before moving along to the back area. After finishing chunking out one of the walls on the back of the home, they split up to help other painters finishing along the back wall. After getting some water and more paint, the volunteers ventured out into the sun to paint the shed. Using the remainder of the paint, they covered the backs of the shed, before returning the buckets and brushes. They pulled up the tape around the home and helped fold up the tarps, then collected some of the empty water bottles at the site to recycle later.
