Murrieta AYLUS Hosts a Beach Cleanup (23rd) (7/17/2024)

Reported by Caien(Daisy) Chen :

On July 17th, AYLUS members had a local beach cleanup. They started by picking up all the trash in the upper park which included paper scraps and plastic shredding. They then made their way down to the lower areas of the park where they found a number of trash including plastic bags and chips. There biggest producer of trash however, was the wind itself as the heavy gusts that day had blown over the tops of multiple trash cans, spreading trash all over the place. They sorted through the trash, throwing away anything that was too big to put in their bags. They found a green piece of plastic in a canyon along the beach walk which was swiftly retrieved by a member. The rest of the members continued along the beach walk onto the shore where they then collected a plastic bag hidden in the sand. Next, they went to the trash can where they picked up anything that had been left behind by cars.
