Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Senior Center (62nd) ( 6/11 & 6/13/2024)

On June 12, 2024, AYLUS members helped with the local memory care senior center. They began with pouring them juices as well as preparing a jam on bread snack which was handed out to al the seniors. They then passed around a beach ball in a game of catch and throw where the seniors were instructed to toss back a ball that was thrown at them. Then, it was time to read the Daily Chronicle, the senior centers newspaper. The seniors took turns reading. Lastly, there was a sing along where the residents were encouraged to sing along to old songs. Finally, they guided the residents to their lunch room.

On June 13, 2024, AYLUS members helped with the local memory care senior center. The residents started by doing yoga which involved bending forward, doing both Sun Salutations, as well as touching your toes to exercise your hips. The snack today was a a yogurt parfait served in a cup which AYLUS members helped prepare by dividing the yogurt and cutting up the fruit. Residents had a choice between orange juice and cranberry juice, a choice that was equally divided. Wasting no time on the weather, residents and members went outside for a walk in the garden before it was finally time to go to lunch where all spoons and cups were collected as long with their hats.
