AYLUS syosset plants plants at Long Island Native Plant Initiative 6/8/24

On 06/8/24 AYLUS Syosset members went to volunteer at Long Island Native Plant Initiative. At the greenhouse we pot native plants such as purple lovegrass, blue curls, and salt marsh fleabone. Purple lovegrass has many benefits to the environment, for example it helps with pollinator support. The flower attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies promoting pollination growth. Another benefit is that it enhances soil health and prevents erosion with it dense roots. Overall purple lovegrass plays an important role for sustaining the ecosystem and supports biodiversity. As for the blue curls their benefits to the environment are closely similar to the purple lovegrass. They also help with pollination growth as they also attract bees and butterflies, and they provide a vital source of nectar. They also provide better soil health as they improve the soil structure and prevents erosion. For the salt marsh fleabone just like both the purple lovegrass and blue curls they benefit the environment with pollination growth and erosion control.
