AYLUS volunteers contributed their time and language abilities at the local Chinese school, and assisted the teachers with handing out papers, grading tests, and helping out students. Some served as teachers assistants, while others marked attendance. This drastically reduced the workload and stress from adults.
Other volunteers tutored instead, using of educational material targeted specifically for ESL seniors. Volunteers explained what each words meant and how to use it in the context of a sentence, and demonstrated proper pronunciation.
