West Essex AYLUS supports Special Skating TOI program on 3/3/24

On 3/3/24, West Essex AYLUS volunteered with Essex Special Skaters to help skaters with disabilities train and practice for Special Figure skating Theatre on Ice program at Codey arena in West Orange NJ.  West Essex members served as unified partners for special skaters.

Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that is popular in Europe, where it is known as Ballet on Ice. It combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Teams consist of between eight and 30 skaters. Solo skating is discouraged, but is permitted in limited amounts if it enhances the overall telling of the program’s story. Skaters, both competitive and noncompetitive, can learn and grow on a theater team. Best of all, a team can draw club skaters together and increase club spirit.

West Essex members (1.5 hours each): Jennie(zihua) Zhang, Owen He, Teesta Bhola-Shah, Oliva Rowell
