On Sunday from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, the Roslyn AYLUS branch cooperates with teachers from the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island.
As teaching assistants, our role is not just to support students while the teacher is engrossed in the interactive board. We also solve technical troubles immediately, assisting with opening presentations for teachers. In addition to our technical responsibilities, creating a classroom atmosphere that is vibrant is critical. Our responsibilities include ensuring student engagement and safety, not just supervising them. We make a concerted effort to include students in the classroom, taking time to learn their interests and names, and motivating them to participate actively in discussions. Building a positive and welcoming learning environment is fundamental to students’ educational journeys, and we work to overcome any student reluctance or shyness about teaching assistants to enhance their learning experience.
In the spirit of Easter, one of our newest activities is the Easter Egg Hunt, a tradition that brings pleasure and excitement into the classroom. Volunteers play an important role in this event. They calculated the number of eggs gathered by each participant and ensure that everyone’s efforts are acknowledged. This not only creates a sense of friendly rivalry but also teaches youngsters the importance of collaboration and cooperation. With the help of volunteers, the students receive their gifts. The Easter Egg Hunt is more than simply a game, but is a valuable lesson in collaboration and shared delight.
