AYLUS Bellaire volunteered at Houston Food Bank on March 17th, 2024

On March 17th, 2024, members of AYLUS Bellaire volunteered with Houston Food Bank.

From roughly 9:00am to 12:00pm, members worked with other volunteers under the leadership of Houston Food Bank supervisors in the assembly line area, where they were sorted into various groups that focus on certain parts of the assembly line.

The goal of the volunteer jobs was to sort products into their respective boxes. Jobs contributing to this mission include opening boxes of donations and sorting them into gray bins as well as packing the sorted donations into new Food Bank boxes with labels. Most of the AYLUS members volunteered for the latter job, while a few members went to a separate room to work with Food Bank boxes. Volunteers were granted a break around 11pm, however many continued to work until the shift ended.

The combined efforts of the workers culminated in the completion of 18 pallets, or approximately 12,387 meals for the community.

13 AYLUS volunteers and 3 friends (not named) participated in this event (3 hours): Alexander Tang, Lucas Wang, Samantha Yu, Valerie Yu, Yuruo Shen, Brooke Yu, Ryan Li, Albert Ying, Yimeng Sun, Sophie Tuan, Raymond Han, Elizabeth Zhou, and William Zhou.

Thank you to our volunteers for sorting products for meals to our community!
