3/20/24 Great Neck Branch Calligraphy Class

On Wednesday, March 20, the Great Neck Branch of AYLUS volunteered at the Great Neck Public Library to help out with the second week of a Chinese calligraphy class. The class is held every Wednesday for three weeks. The class is taught by Professor Yixin Yuan, and has 12 students. Before the class started, the volunteers did many preparations. They first cut up large pieces of paper into fourths, and then folded them into squares to provide a grid for the students. They also helped to set up the tables and chairs, and refilled ink. During the class, the students practiced a lot, so the volunteers were also constantly handing out new sheets of grid paper to the students. Afterwards, the volunteers helped clean up by washing the brushes and organizing everything. The volunteers worked very hard from 6:30 to 9:00.

Volunteers: Serena Chen (2.5 hrs), Emma Ding (2.5 hrs), Maggie Xiao (2.5 hrs)
