AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch Balloon Fundraiser (03/14/2024)

This is the 53rd event held by Oakland Gardens on March 14, 2024.

The weather today is very warm because winter is finally over and spring has arrived. Today is the parent teacher conference for middle school students, so they finished school early. The members arrived early in the park next to the elementary school to prepare the balloon fundraiser. They set up tables and displayed different balloon designs made yesterday, waiting for the elementary school students to be dismissed.

The first ones to come out are the kindergarten children, and our cute balloons are always the most popular among them. Pikachu is the first choice, along with rabbits and frogs. The only panda was bought by a child who looks very smart. Unicorns are the most popular among girls.

Our elementary school members also came to help after being dismissed. Members work in pairs to find parents in the park to promote balloons. We told parents that we are raising funds for the African Library project. Some of the parents were very supportive of our events. After a bit of talking, they have learned that we are AYLUS. Furthermore, they found out that all of our members were students and AYLUS welcomes all students as new members.

We wanted to ship out the books by the end of this month. All of our members wanted the African children to receive these books as fast as they possibly can.
