At Torrey Pines Senior Living: The volunteers began by spooning mandarin oranges into bowls and smashing banana for residents who couldn’t chew properly. They helped supervise to make sure that some residents didn’t injure themselves, and then cleaned up the bowls and cups. They took the residents outside for walks and drinks, enjoying the sunlight together. The residents then read the daily chronicle, before they were taken inside for lunch.

On March 17th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out their local senior center, Atria Park of Vintage Hills. After each member signed in, they made their way to the Ice Cream Parlor. When the clock striked 2 o’clock, the members went to the library to set up at the piano. The members served ice cream to seniors and family members that came in. They found that the majority enjoyed the Birthday Cake flavor the most, though Chocolate was pretty popular, too. Over in the library, the seniors sang along to the music. Their heartwarming chorus could be heard all the way in the reception. When their time was up, the members packed up their things, put the toppings back, wiped the table down, and washed their hands.
