AYLUS Roslyn Assists with SunriseWalks to Host Game Day for Kids Battling Cancer (1st) on March 10th, 2024

On Sunday, March 10th, from 9:30AM to 2:00PM the Roslyn branch volunteered at the SunriseWalks corporate office in Long Island.
This event was a kickoff for a walk in June supporting kids with cancer and their siblings, funding them to go to summer camps for free. The goal for this year’s fundraising event is 1.1 million dollars, enough for sending one hundred eighty kids to go to summer camp.
Today we assisted this fundraiser by setting up the venue and cleaning up after it was over. We moved boxes filled with baked goods and food that was going to be served at the event. We all organized the pastries neatly and presentable so people could serve themselves. Soon after we set up, we split up into groups. Some members went to help with checking in the guests, and others helped restock food or play games with the kids. With our assistance the staff could focus on promoting the Sunrise Walk event to the guests. After some time, we headed into the conference room to draw the raffle tickets and gave away prizes. The event ended shortly after the raffle, as we
started to clean up. We put away the food, toys and games that were previously set up and we moved all the furniture to where they usually go.
I hope with the support of the community, Sunrise can raise enough money to provide memorable summers to more cancer patients and their siblings.
