AYLUS Oakland Gardens Members collected books part 2 (02/23/2024)

On Friday February 23 2024, AYLUS Oakland Garden members picked up books. Some of the books came from our very own member’s donations! They donated because they knew how close we were to achieving our goal, and wanted to bring us even closer.

Our goal for 2024 is to donate a “library” to children in Africa. This project aims to send at least 1,000 books (from levels K to 8th grade) to children in poverty-stricken/affected areas in Africa. Our volunteer branch will be responsible for all the shipping costs of these books, and we will additionally donate extra money to Africa because they need this funding to prepare and build a library. Our members work hard and do their best to achieve this goal.

Some of our members went to collect books for our book drive from neighbors, while other members donated books themselves! We are very grateful for all the support from our members and others. This brought us closer to our goal. Our members placed the books in bags / boxes and gave them to our parent advisor for safekeeping, until we could ship and donate them to Africa.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped us achieve our goal by donating books for our cause. Every single book that was donated is one step closer to achieving our goal, and one step closer to building a library in Africa.
