AYLUS Oakland Gardens Fundraised Money for African Library (02/07/2024)

On February 7 2024, AYLUS Oakland Gardens Volunteer Branch made balloons for sale try to reach our goal. Our goal for 2024 is to donate a “library” to children in Africa. This project aims to send at least 1,000 books (from levels K to 8th grade) to children in poverty-stricken/affected areas in Africa. Our volunteer branch will be responsible for all the shipping costs of these books (estimated to be around $1,200), and we will additionally donate $500 to Africa because they need this funding to prepare and build a library. It isn’t easy to raise about $1700 and get at least 1000 books to donate to Africa. Our members work hard and do their best to achieve this goal.

Raising that much money isn’t easy, so some of our members decided to make special orders to deliver enough balloons for special dates. We made many balloons such as pikachus, rabbit. We tied them into banquets and made more flowers for design. Some AYLUS members posted these balloon pictures on social media and other platforms like those. That way we could make balloon deliveries to others, because this organization is made out of kids, we also only worked during the night after we finished all our homework. While making balloons, many of the balloons popped. Some members were scared when the balloons popped, but they continued to make balloons for sale. Soon many balloons were made and we had more than enough balloons to deliver.

We’d like to thank everyone who made an order. They didn’t just buy some balloons, but they donated money to our cause, bringing us step by step closer to our goal. All your help is appreciated, and every donation takes us a step closer to our goal! Thank you for all your support!
