On 1/30/2024, Aylus Great Neck held another tutoring session for students at the Great Neck Library Station Branch. Our volunteer arrived at the library at around 4:30PM.
Our volunteer Kevin Zhang tutored the student on topics such as mathematics, science and English.
After about an hour, our volunteer said his goodbyes and left.
1/31/2024
On 1/31/2024, Aylus Great Neck held one of its weekly tutoring sessions for children at the Great Neck Station Branch library. Our volunteers Zixi Zhang, Ruiqi Liu, and Kevin Zhang arrived at the library at about 4:30PM.
While we expected three people to arrive, only one of our students actually came to the library. Kevin played Monopoly with the child and a few other children nearby for the hour.
Ruiqi and ZixI helped Kevin with his game. Then Ruiqi helped a grade10 student with a coding problem. He ran out of time before the end of the hour to finish the problem, but significant progress was made.
After the hour was over, we said our goodbyes and left.
2/4/2024
On 2/4/2024, Aylus Great Neck hosted another board game session for students learning English. Since the library is closed on Sundays, we again met in the apartment complex of one of our volunteers.
Our two volunteers Ruiqi Liu and Kevin Zhang met at 9:00AM, and we brought the set of Monopoly to play. This time, we finally finished the game, with one of our students winning the match. Our students were still learning the vocabulary associated with the game, but they were getting better with every session.
After about an hour, we said our goodbyes and left.
