On Saturday, January 20, 2024, AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at E.D. White Elementary School. The weekly volunteering program aims to help students with disadvantaged families with mathematics and reading.
Members tutored kids in 4th and 5th grade on topics ranging from fractions, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and English. Some volunteers even communicated in Spanish to kids who did not speak English as their first language. As a result, students were able to improve speed, accuracy, and comprehension in answering questions. Members also sharpened pencils for teachers and students to use in the future.
