AYLUS Queens Branch Volunteered at Dream Center NYC’s Warehouse on 1/27/24

On January 27th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the volunteers of the Queens Branch collaborated with Dream Center NYC. Their goal was to organize the Long Island City warehouse before distributing various items to marginalized and underserved communities in Queens in February. These items included baby diapers, plushies, shampoo, sunglasses, and more.

Upon entering the warehouse, we discovered disorganized boxes filled with these goods. To simplify the process, we set up wooden pallets to group boxes by their contents. After securing these piles of boxes with stretch wrap to prevent any issues during transportation by forklift, we conducted an inventory check and recorded the quantities of each item. Completing all these tasks ahead of schedule allowed us to share extra goods with a nearby asylum hotel within walking distance. This was particularly crucial given the increasing number of immigrants in Queens and the broader New York area who need our support.
