The Bernards PEC or the BERNARDS PARENTS FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN, organized PEC Mentor trainning in Bernards library, 32 S Maple Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, on 1/21/24. AYLUS Basking Ridge members participated in the training and played with the kids in the special education.

During the mentor training, they had been taught the tools and strategies that will help them work with the various children they encounter in our programs. Mentors are given a platform where they can ask questions and alleviate any fears or the “unknown” they may feel before mentoring. During the discussion session, AYLUS Basking Ridge Members had opportunities to promote AYLUS youth volunteerism to PEC and seek more opportunities to work with PEC.

After the training, AYLUS Basking Ridge Members worked with other mentors, doing activities with kids in special education, such as art, craft, Simon says and etc. The kids coming to the program had a wonderful time and their parents shows their gratitude to our hard work.
