AYLUS Roslyn helps out at a School of CCA of Long Island (37th) on Jan 7th, 2024 on Sunday, from 1:30 – 5:00 pm, the Roslyn Branch helped teachers from the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island.
We worked as teachers’ assistants to help keep the students on the same page as the teacher, enforce school rules, and grade homework. We start our days by taking attendance of who is here and who is not and collecting homework. While the teachers teach the lesson, we make sure that all students are focused and not distracted by their toys or their phones. During break time, it’s important to make sure the students don’t touch the high school classroom equipment or run in the halls. We teach them to be responsible and clean up after themselves. It’s important for us to be leaders and give them guidance when they need help. As teacher assistants, we learn how to take care of and communicate with kids, classroom management, and how to multitask.
