Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank (34th) (1/5/2024)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On Friday, January 5, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to the Community Mission of Hope food bank.
Arriving to a chill in the morning, the volunteers got started sorting different assortments of bread and desserts. Separating out the sliced breads, whole breads, and rolls on shelves, they also got more boxes of breads from the refrigerator to sort. They then started bagging meats from the freezer in preparation for food boxes. 2 small or 1 large meat products were bagged in plastic before the meats were placed back in the boxes. Leaving 2 boxes out, the rest were placed back in the freezer. As people arrived to receive boxes, the boxes were filled and handed out. Each box contained a protein, some gravy, some deli products, vegetables, fruits, grains, and a dessert. After the rush for boxes subsided, the volunteers sorted produce and threw out that which was inedible or rotten. Then, the leftover products were all boxed and placed back into storage, and the volunteers mopped the floor, before bidding goodbye.
