On Tuesday 12/21/2023, members of AYLUS Syosset sat and talked with Wendy Li, a member of the New York City Civil Court, representing New York County. First, Mrs. Li gave an introduction to who she is. As a member of the NYC Civil Court, Wendy Li is running to be the first Asian American Surrogate’s Court Judge in the City of New York (https://www.voteforwendyli.com/about). She aims to promote inclusivity and to help immigrants become successful in America. Members of AYLUS Syosset discussed with Mrs. Li personal and career-oriented questions. She gave us individualized advice for our own academic careers and future passions that we wish to pursue. Furthermore, members also asked Mrs. Li about organizational and leadership questions. Mrs. Li provided a lot of advice regarding how to be more effective organizers and leaders. She suggested that we make sure that we always have our main goals in mind when we speak to our peers and make decisions about future events.
