Frisco & Plano Branch Organized and Packaged Books for Libraries With Love on October 15th, 2023

Reported by Duojian Kongcao

On October 15th, multiple AYLUS volunteers convened to a house to sort books to give to a library in South Africa. Although volunteers had an initial goal of sorting 600 books in boxes due to the time constraints of only working 3 hours we were only able to achieve a still impressive 300 books in boxes, but it should be noted that many books the volunteers found were unfit to be sent to Africa: either lacking in physical quality,  age-appropriateness, or quality of topic, and were thus put into separate containers not counted for the 300 number. Furthermore, the 300 books would be further supplemented by an independent volunteer working from home for 3 hours. The AYLUS branch here in Plano, Texas believes that for future book sorting endeavors; the process may be expedited due to the sorting of most ineligible books.
