AYLUS Bellaire Branch Volunteered at the Nature Discovery Center Pumpkin Patch Festival-Day 2 on October 15, 2023

On Sunday, October 15th, members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at the annual Nature Discovery Center Pumpkin Patch Festival from 9:30 am- 1:30 pm and 1:00 – 5:00 pm. The Nature Discovery Center hosts this event every year with games, food, prizes, petting zoos, and most importantly, pumpkins. The center was packed with families from all over Bellaire.

In the morning shift, volunteers helped set up all the games, stations, and stalls in preparation for the day. Then, they helped to run and manage the stations once the event started. These stations included bouncy houses, games like bean bag toss and pumpkin bowling, and face painting. At each activity, the volunteers checked tickets off as families waited in line and helped everyone enjoy the game.

The volunteers in the afternoon shift did similar jobs, taking over the same activities. At the end of the day, they helped clean up. They moved all the equipment from the games back into the building, picked up, and threw out the trash. Then, they moved all the leftover pumpkins.

The following volunteers participated in this event:

9:30am – 1:30pm: (4 hours): Daniel Wu, Yufei Zhang, Jason Chen

1:00 – 5:00 pm: (4 hours): Serena Li, Valerie Yu, Samantha Yu, Lucas Wang, Shreyas Sinha
