Summer 2023 East Cobb Branch Volunteered at CNC Habitat Restoration Days

East Cobb AYLUS members volunteered at the CNC Habitat Restoration days on June 24, July 22, and August 19, 2023 to learn about and remove invasive plants. They learned about the species of invasive plants in the park and how to identify them. They then used a variety of equipment, including shovels, pickaxes, and shears to dig up, cut, and remove the plants. At the end of the service, they learned about the reptiles and amphibians found in Georgia. Overall, they gained valuable experience and knowledge in environmental restoration.

On July 1, 2023, AYLUS East Cobb branch assisted with an butterfly encounter event at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. We examined guests when they left the exhibition to ensure the butterflies do not leave the enclosure with them. We also walked guests through butterfly Garden to meet with educators and pollinator experts.  This event had multiple shifts. Our shift lasted for 3.5 hours. During our shift, we helped more than 20 guests to get up-close and personal with the butterflies.
