AYLUS Syosset Branch Helps Out Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary & Audubon Center in Removing Weeds and Selling Native Plants on 9/9/23

On Saturday, 9/9/23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., AYLUS Syosset aided the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary & Audubon Center in removing weeds and selling native plants to shoppers passing by. Unwanted weeds and other small plants were extracted from the ground to clear several pathways in the back of the garden as AYLUS members transferred bucketfuls of the pervasive weeds into a wheelbarrow. At the center’s entrance, volunteers helped in the plant sale by listing preorders and carrying carts with purchased plants over to the customer’s vehicles. Volunteers lifted the plants into the customers’ cars and then returned the carts to the center to help other shoppers. The assistance offered by the members was greatly appreciated, and at the end of the volunteer shift at 1 p.m., many of the plants had sold, demonstrating definite success.
