AYLUS Syosset attends the Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau Farmers’ Market at Eisenhower Park for the 8th week, 9/2/23

On Saturday, September 2nd, members of the AYLUS Syosset branch attended the Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau Farmers’ Market at Eisenhower Park for the eighth week in a row! The market is dedicated to bringing awareness to the benefits of eating farm-fresh produce and supporting local businesses. There were many vendors featured at the market, all of whom sold locally-made items. These include vegetables, fruit, bread, baked goods, pickles, candles, and more. Each week, the booths change.

This week was special because it was also the Eisenhower Park Arts and Crafts Fair. Countless vendors showed up to sell their handmade jewelry, make up items, clothes, toys, crocheted items, handbags, precious stones, sculptures, home decor, paintings and more.

Members worked to set up the tents, chairs, tables, flags and signs. Members helped to give out free punch-cards to new and returning members and helped to answer the questions of incoming customers regarding the farmer’s market and the many services they provide. Members also interacted with the kids, giving them worksheets, stickers and temporary tattoos.

Members participated include:

Sophia Liu (3.5 hours), Rachel Zhang (4 hours), Alyssa Huang (4 hours), Thea Chen (4 hours), Margaret Zhang (3.5 h), Xuanming Liu (4 h).
