On Saturday, August 26th, members of the AYLUS Syosset branch attended the Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau Farmers’ Market at Eisenhower Park for the seventh week in a row! The market is dedicated to bringing awareness to the benefits of eating farm-fresh produce and supporting local businesses. There were many vendors featured at the market, all of whom sold locally-made items. These include vegetables, fruit, bread, baked goods, pickles, candles, and more. Each week, the booths change.

This week, there was heavy rain in the morning, which resulted in a lot fewer vendors and market-goers. Members all arrived on time and helped set up tents and tables in the rain, and afterward kept count of the number of people who came to the market today. The market was extended half an hour because of the late start due to rain, and members helped clean up and put everything away.

Members participated include:

Sophia Liu (4 hours), Rachel Zhang (4 hours), Alyssa Huang (4 hours), Thea Chen (4 hours).
