On June 17, 2023, AYLUS Fort Bend Branch members Ethan Li and David Chen planted a second white oak tree in Memorial Park at Sugar Land, Texas. During the event, volunteers received guidance and assistance from a Texas Master Naturalist named Kevin Peters on the intricate process of planting a tree. Through the activity, volunteers realized that the soil the tree was originally planted in contained large chunks Styrofoam. As a result, volunteers promptly removed the Styrofoam from the tree’s soil in order to preserve the tree’s longevity.
