Reported by Andrew Zhou

On May 20, 2023, AYLUS San Diego Branch hosted an AYLUS Alumni Seminar, where we are thrilled to have our previous AYLUS leaders and members join us to share their invaluable and unique experiences in volunteering, along with their experiences in high school and college.

This event greatly benefited others and was received very well by the community, with over 40 participants from the community  gathering attending the event, which was held in a community park. It provided an opportunity for younger individuals to learn more about what to expect in high school and in college, specific details about courses, and be given tips and advice. Participants learned ways to maximize one’s enjoyment and performance in school, including to take classes that focus on your passions and to work hard and not procrastinate; to help not procrastinate, the alumni recommended people to create a schedule and plan of upcoming activities and assignments. The alumni additionally helped explain the college admission process and tips for the college application, and also shared extracurriculars they’ve done in high school, possible activities and things to focus on during the summer, and also about the significance of volunteering. At the end, there was a live Q&A session where participants were allowed to ask the alumni any questions they still had regarding certain issues.

The following AYLUS members participated in the AYLUS Alumni Seminar on 5/20/23 for 3.0 volunteer hours each:

Andrew Zhou, Hans Yang, Max Yang, Steven Xiao, Xinyuan Zou, Angela Li, Kevin Kan
