AYLUS Greater Triangle Branch volunteers Siyu Liu, Yuyang Luo, and Alex Zhang recently spent their day at the Robert and Pearl Seymour Senior Center, providing assistance with various activities for elderly residents. Upon arrival, the volunteers encountered an elderly resident who was struggling to understand the rules of mahjong due to language barriers. They patiently explained the rules to the resident, who was grateful for their help.Next, the volunteers went to the café where they helped rearrange chairs and assisted the kitchen staff with meal preparation. They washed their hands and put on disposable gloves before gathering utensils and rolling them up neatly in a cloth. They also washed used coffee and tea cups, earning thanks from the staff for their hard work.
After completing their tasks in the café, the volunteers moved on to the gym, where they helped set up chairs for an upcoming event. The volunteers’ efforts were greatly appreciated by the staff and residents at the senior center. By providing assistance and making the lives of the residents a little easier, they showed the power of community service and the impact that it can have. The AYLUS Greater Triangle Branch volunteers’ dedication and commitment to service is an inspiration to us all.
