West Essex AYLUS Joined Livingston Food Pantry to Make Sandwiches for Homeless in Essex county on 1/16/23

On Jan. 16th 2023, West Essex AYLUS joined Livingston Food Pantry to make sandwiches for homeless in Essex county New Jersey.

The CHOW food pantry is managed by Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors (LNHN) providing families with the essentials they need to help ease their burden. Anything unexpired is accepted and welcomed, from children’s snacks, to detergent. LNHN also shares excessive food donations with other food pantries and shelters based in Newark including St. John’s, St. Ann’s, and St. Michael’s.

During covid because the need is so severe, LNHN has started an effort to regularly send peanut butter and jelly sandwiches/lunch bags. Sandwiches must be in zip locks and participants should wear gloves and masks when making. Livingston has sent well over 10,000 sandwiches since this big effort began and we are so proud of the generosity that continues to shine.

West Essex AYLUS members: Jasmine Chen, Joshua Chen, Sirui Dai, Sophia Yan, Stephanie Yan, Ethan Yang, Daniel Zheng, and Sophia Zheng (2.5 hours each)
