Murrieta AYLUS Hosted a Senior Center Performance at Mary Phillips Senior Center (2nd) (01/04/23)

Reported by Jessica Lu

On January 4th, 2023, AYLUS Murrieta members went to Mary Phillips Senior Center to host a performance celebrating the new year.

Some members arrived early so they tested out the piano and prepared the stage for the performance. Members also brought the greeting cards they prepared last week for the seniors and a gift for the staffs.

The program started off with the introduction of AYLUS by the City of Temecula Community Services Manager. First with some contemporary pieces then moved on to the romantic era, playing pieces by Chopin and Liszt. One of the members performed a christmas medley on the violin and the seniors even started singing along! Then, members moved back to the piano and performed a pop piece, and another 2 members played a cello and piano duet that earned lots of applause. To end the performance, a member danced a beautiful contemporary piece by John Legend.

We feel so honored that the City of Temecula Community Services Superintendent also came spent the time with us for the whole program.

After the performance, many people went up to the members to tell them how much they enjoyed them. Members enjoyed performing for the seniors and hope to come back soon!
