AYLUS Birmingham Branch Hosts Data Mining Seminars to Teach About Rare Genetic Diseases

Throughout the year, Jari Chen has hosted multiple seminars regarding Medical Data Mining as it has become an increasingly popular field of study. These seminars are mainly discussing the general meaning of Data Mining and why it is so important in today’s world, as well as how Medical Data Mining can help people with rare genetic diseases and some general biology relating to genetics. These seminars also addressed how to do scientific research: where to find scientific papers and how to create professional posters.

These seminars have occurred three times (11/27 -3hrs, 1/16 -3hrs, 4/2 -3hrs) in which around 2 hours were spent preparing and presenting for each session(average 0.5 hours presentation, 0.25 hours answering questions, 2.25 hours preparing)
