Williamsville AYLUS Holds a Summer Chess Tournament on August 24th, 2021

On August 24th, members of the Williamsville branch of AYLUS held an in-person chess tournament that was open to all players of various ages and skill levels. The tournament consisted of 3 rounds, lasting a total of 3 hours. Over 20 players registered for the tournament, and 3 gift card awards ($50, $30, and $15 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively) were given out to the top 3 players. Congratulations to Brian Lin (1st place), Max Radecki (2nd place), and Panav Kommineni (3rd place)!

Volunteers helped set up chess boards and clocks prior to the tournament, supervise games throughout the course of the 3 rounds, disinfect boards after each round, and clean up after the tournament ended. Thank you to all who participated and volunteered in the tournament and a special thanks to the Buffalo Chess Association for helping to make the event possible! Williamsville AYLUS looks forward to holding more chess tournaments in the future!
