From July 9th to August 2nd, Raritan Valley AYLUS members Jason and Lucy Liu hosted a shoe drive through the organization Soles 4 Souls. In order to promote the shoe drive, flyers were spread around to neighbors and friends.
In total, 154 pairs of shoes were dropped off at the Soles 4 Souls donation box. At the end of the donation period, the shoes were sorted and packed into 7 boxes and shipped for free through the Zappos for Good program.
The Soles 4 Souls Organization has three main goals. They seek to fight poverty, provide relief, and reduce waste. Through participation in the shoe drive, donors have helped to provide war and disaster relief and repurposed old shoes that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill.
