On 8/26/21, ALYUS Manhasset tended to the community garden in Clark Botanic Garden. We harvested the tomatoes that were ripe.
We observed changes in the garden and noticed bees (very important to the environment) were gathering around the sunflowers we planted. When we tended to the garden and watered the plants, we were careful to not disturb them. Last week, we got rid of an invasive species plant which allowed the other vegetables to grow better.
Afterwards, we worked on the composting project and contributed some composting material. We also spent some time mixing the materials in the bins and weeded the garden that was there.
The members that participated were Loretta Liu (2 hrs) and Matthew Yang (2 hrs)
