In August, besides supporting the Princeton Backpack and School Supplies Drive event, the Greater Princeton branch of AYLUS (GPA) volunteers helped our local community at Rise (116 N Main Street, 2nd floor, Hightstown, NJ 08520) to sort, stuff, and distribute backpacks for local students.
More important this school year than ever before. Let’s get our local students ready for a fresh start on day one for the 2021-2022 school year.
Every backpack given to a child through Rise Has Your Backpack Drive is filled with brand new school supplies according to the child’s grade so that these children look and feel ready for the new school year.
Close your eyes and picture yourself as a child on any first day of school. Remember how excited you were to open the new backpack that your mom let you handpick? Remember, opening your new lunchbox with your favorite cartoon character plastered across the front? Remember how excited you were to open that fresh box of crayons, sharpen a new pencil, write your name on the first clean page of a new notebook? Wouldn’t every child love to have those cherished memories?
You personally can help a child create that special memory by signing up to assemble, donate school supplies directly or make a generous donation to the Rise’s Backpack Drive.
GPA Participants (8/25): Lan Cheng (5 hrs), Tessa Thai (5 hrs), Fangyi Chen (5 hrs), Grace Li (5 hrs), Chloe Tan (5 hrs), Isobel Liang (3 hrs).
