On June 18th, the AYLUS Birmingham Branch started a math enrichment program for the students at Washing K-8 school, an underserved Title I school. One of the most important ways to positively impact one’s community is to provide opportunities to those who are underserved. The Birmingham Branch hopes to provide the students at Washington K-8 with STEM opportunities that were not previously available to them.
On June 25th, James Shi (3 hours) and Cynthia Liu (2 hours) taught rising 7th and 8th graders about the area and perimeter of triangles. They also reviewed last weeks lecture on triangle basics and the coordinate plane.
