Greater Princeton AYLUS Donates Clothing and Shoes to Soles4Souls (5th) on May 22th, 2021

In May, the Greater Princeton branch of AYLUS (GPA) completed its shoe drive to help Central and South America families in poverty and make the world a little better.

Give a shoe, save a life. Did you know that 767 million people around the world live on less than $1.90 per day? For many people in developing nations, finding a job that generates a sustainable income is difficult. Many go hungry and are barefoot all year round.

We collected all styles and sizes of new or gently worn shoes. All donations went to Soles 4 Souls, an organization committed to helping people around the world overcome these obstacles by giving them shoes for themselves and their families.

The collection took place from April 20th to May 21st. Our members tie pairs of shoes together or use a rubber band to keep them together. When donating cloth shoes we put them in a Ziploc bag or other type of bag.

On May 22nd, GPA members delivered ~200 pairs of shoes plus 50+ clothing items to the storage location (E30) of Soles4Souls at 1025 US-206, Bordentown, NJ 08505. Lizzy Swiderski, Soles4Souls Director Of Operations – NJ & Philadelphia, Greater New York City Area, accommodated our donation efforts on Saturday.

Participants (5/22, 3 hrs for all): Donna Nagorny, Cassie Wang, Alissa Wu, Kathie Wang, Gina Shen.
