On 4/30/2021, NYC branch completed its 6 month long virtual tutoring project. Over the course of the project, there were 60 volunteers and together contributed 1269 hours to the virtual community.
This project kicked off on 10/1/2020 to meet the mounting needs from families all over the country. Parents reached out to voice their concerns of learning losses and mental health from social isolation. NYC branch quickly jumped to action and recruited volunteers from every corner of the country teaching children as young as 4 years old to middle schoolers. The subjects covers fiction and non-fiction reading, vocabulary building, math, science, history, coding, and Chinese.
