The world has never faced a crisis like COVID-19. The pandemic is impacting communities everywhere. It’s never been more urgent to support the global response, led by the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO).
The members of Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) and their family members care for saving lives and helping people in need. In November, GPA member Pengyue Gao and Dr. Shanfu Zheng received financial support from Google Inc. to help fight COVID-19.
Donations support WHO’s work, including with partners, to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate research and development of a vaccine and treatments for all who need them.
Some donations also support additional Fund partners UNICEF, the World Food Programme, the UN’s refugee agency (UNHCR), the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and the vaccine development alliance CEPI.
As of 11/09/2020 the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund has raised or committed $237,859,233 from more than 651,000 individuals, companies and philanthropies.
WHO Has already disbursed the following amounts:
$165.4 million to WHO to procure and distribute essential commodities and coordinate response.
$10 million to CEPI to catalyze and coordinate global vaccine R&D.
$10 million to UNHCR to protect at-risk Internally Displaced People and refugees.
$10 million to UNICEF to support vulnerable communities in low-resource settings.
$20 million to WFP to support the shipment of vital commodities where they are most needed.
$5 million to UNRWA to support refugee populations in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank.
