On October 27, 2020, volunteers from the Irvine branch of AYLUS hosted its tenth introductory history class for the fall session. We held the lesson on Zoom, and students, consisting of elementary and middle schoolers, had a great time participating.
Today we talked about the Interwar era. We started out where we left off last time with WW1 and then got on to the roaring 20s, some concepts like urbanization and consumerism, prohibition, and finally the great depression. With the depression there was lots of economic terms like stocks, inflation, deflation, and how banks operate, but most of the students seemed to understand it. Today we had a few new students and we had a lot more interactivity, with students answering and asking questions. The new students seemed to learn quite a lot which was good. They seemed very engaged as well, and the kahoot went quite well as most of the questions were answered correctly meaning that students were paying attention. We ran into no issues, and since we had students interested in specific things we were able to go and extrapolate a bit more on some topics. Overall the class went pretty well this week and we had a lot of fun.
